WE WILL MISS YOU DAD !

Today has been a heart breaking day for me and my family. Early this morning, my father finally lost his battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He had been rushed to the hospital on Thursday and was to come home today, along with hospice care, to help make his last days comfortable. It is a difficult disease to watch a loved one go through, and I think in his heart, he did not want to burden anyone with that memory, and chose to pass on before leaving the hospital.
My Dad was a amazing man, and though I can barely think straight right now, I had to post "something", "anything" to help release some of my thoughts.
Every year, Dad would ask for only two things for Father's Day........"peace and quiet! Well Dad, I will miss you terribly and my heart aches, but I find comfort in knowing you have found your "peace".

  8. Thank you all for your kind words. I am finally back home after spending the week with my family. It was a difficult week but I was so pleased at how many people came to his wake to pay their respects. He was loved by many. The Army and the Firefighters all took part in the services and I was so proud. He would have probably complained that too many people made too much of a fuss over him...but deep down inside he would have loved ever minute of it.
Now our focus is on Mom. She has been with him for almost 64 years and it will be very hard for her with him gone.
Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. I felt them all through cyber space :)

  9. I am so sorry about your dad. I lost mine nine years ago along with my mom and it just is never the same. My brother and I said we were now "orphans." Hope you are feeling a little better.
