My heads have found bodies!

Just one lonesome head waiting for limbs. And yes, that is a Santa in the left corner just starting to grow a beard.

  1. You are so talented! Is this paper clay and if the answer is yes . . . do you make your own?

    1. Yes it is paper clay - thank you so much for the compliment! I kind of do both.....I love Creative PaperClay - I find there is very little "shrinkage" with that brand. Other brands shrink quite a bit when dry. I use Celluclay (you mix yourself) which has a more textured feeling when made. Sometimes I use that for the base and then go over the final details with Paperclay to smooth out some of the details. Or I use it straight for when I want that more textured feel. And I make my own often - cost effective in the end - I have tried few different recipes. If you go on to ultimatepapermache.com, they have a variety of recipes and a great source of information. I usually stick with this recipe: one roll of toilet paper (usually around 1 1/4 cups of toilet paper), 1 cup of joint compound, 3/4 cup of Elmer's Glue and 1/2 cup of flour. But try a few and find out what you like. If you want to make something with a really smooth surface like a dolls face or some fun details, I do like La Doll Premier Clay. There is a light weight and a heavier weight - both are super strong when dry (stronger than any paper clay)and you can even carve nice details into it. Hope you have fun experimenting and thank you for the kind words!
